Fall is one of my favorite times of the year to set new goals for my body, mind and spirit. For me, the best way to get started is to do a cleanse which will detox and rid the body and mind of bad habits and bring on new energizing thoughts, patterns and foods.
Sooo, I will be starting my 4 day Simple 7 Online Detox on Thursday September 19th. I would love it if you would join me because truthfully, I am more successful and have more fun when I have some detox buddies. We won’t actually meet in person – this is an online program so you can join in from anywhere, anytime!
Interested? Grab a friend, co-worker, or spouse; the more, the merrier! My at-home detox buddy will be my 16-year-old daughter. She will learn some safe and healthy eating practices while getting rid of those sugar cravings that continue to plague our youth.
For those of you starting with me on Thursday September 19th, you will get daily inspiration from me and the ability to communicate with the rest of the group via our own Energized Body Facebook group. So motivating, fun and effective!
Your meals will be easy to prepare, you will lose your sugar cravings, shed some unwanted weight and get on a good path to keep you strong and healthy throughout the year.
To make the 4 day Detox a little easier and to shed more weight, order the 4 day Organic Zija Moringa nutritionals to go along with the detox. I am definitely doing this because I am not as hungry, my metabolism is increased and I sleep better. This is an option; you will still be successful detoxing without it.
Here are two of the delicious smoothies you will be drinking.
Ingredients
- 1 medium roasted beet (4 oz.) see Notes below
- 1 apple
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1/2 cup almond, coconut, rice, or hemp milk, or water
- 1 Tbs lemon juice
- Honey to taste, optional
- 2 ice cubes
Directions
1. Wrap beet in foil and roast in a 400°F oven 1 hour, or until tender. Remove from oven. As soon as beet is cool enough to handle, remove foil, slip off and discard skin, and slice in half. Stash 1/2 in the refrigerator for later; cut remaining 1/2 beet into large chunks.
2. Combine beet and all other ingredients in a blender; blend on high until smooth.
Notes from Denise
Roast 4 beets now and you’ll have enough for smoothies and snacks throughout your detox! Don’t have time to roast the beets? Use packaged roasted beets, found in the produce section.

Here’s a preview of What’s in & What’s out-
The Simple 7 Foods
What They Are & Why You Need Them: 1. Broccoli Broccoli is part of an excellent purifying family (kale, Brussels sprouts & cabbage are in the same family). It helps regulate toxin removal in your cells and also has lots of antioxidents to counteract oxidative stress in the body. 2. Beets and beet greens Beets are full of betalins, which fight aging, reduce inflammation and purge harmful toxins from the body. Don’t toss the beet greens: they are rich in minerals and vitamins, including beta-carotene. 3. Spinach Dark leafy greens are key to a healthful diet, especially when you are cleansing. Spinach boasts more than a dozen disease-fighting antioxidants called flavonoids. It also helps to alkalize the blood and tissues, balance pH levels and helps the body perform at its best. 4. Blueberries A superfruit! These little blue berries get their color from anthocyanins, a class of flavonoids that are high in antioxidants and immunity-boosters. In addition to being linked to boosting brain power and heart health, blueberries are lower in sugar than many other fruits. 5. Avocado Avocados boats anti-inflammatory nutrients, including omega-3s, anti-oxidants and phytosteols. They are also high in fiber, key to healthy digestion. And while they are high in fat, it is mostly monounsaturated, which helps reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol. 6. Cannellini Beans Legumes like beans and lentils are rich in protein and soluble fiber, which helps stabilize blood sugar. This means you stay full longer, reducing cravings. Plus, this protein is one of the easiest for the liver to digest. 7. Almonds Raw almonds pack a powerful fiber-protein combination, very important during a cleanse. They are also loaded with vitamin E, while helps fight inflammation, and immune-boasting flavonoids. Did I mention they are heart-healthy?

What to Leave Out & Why During the 4 days of your Detox, you won’t be going near these 6 categories of foods. You’ll be challenged but your body will thank you! Processed Food or Drinks Artificial ingredients and additives make the body work harder and weigh it down. Give your body a chance to rest by enjoying foods in their purest form. Added Sugar It’s processed and has zero nutrients — and may be just as addictive as drugs, research shows. In excess, it leads to weight gain and inflammation. Dairy Even if you’re not allergic, you could benefit from a dairy break. It can be the root of sluggishness, digestive upset, and inflammation. Gluten Feel bloated, fatigued, or moody? You may be gluten intolerant and not even know it. Stop eating this protein, found in wheat, barley, and rye, and see if you notice a difference. Coffee It’s a false energy booster that can mask lack of sleep or bad food choices. Coffee is also highly acidic, which makes it tough for the digestive system to handle. Alcohol Not only can booze mess with your metabolism, it’s a source of empty calories (125 in 5 ounces of red wine), interferes with your sleep cycle, and makes your liver work overtime
